The rise of start-ups, co-working offices and remote work has led to increased reliance on insecure Wi-Fi networks, with employees often bypassing security measures like VPNs. The shift in work environments have strained enterprise security, especially for smaller companies that normally don’t have their own IT team. Numerous cyber breach reports, and increased costs now call for a future-proof alternative supporting a changing work landscape.

For SME’s aiming to fully adopt a mobile-first approach, and gaining also full cost and efficiency benefits, securing office space with reliable mobile coverage, particularly 5G, is key.

Achieving a full mobile-first transition involves, for most SME’s, gradual steps that can for example be:

  • Reducing Wi-Fi risks: Encouraging the use of mobile networks over Wi-Fi, particularly for remote work, to enhance security and provide an always-on experience.
  • Improving productivity and battery life: Using mobile data for smartphones and laptops can also conserve device battery life and reduce infrastructure costs. This requires good indoor mobile quality and capacity.
  • Streamlining technology usage: Consolidating existing wireless devices and networks onto a single mobile network to reduce complexity, enhance security, and save on costs.

Together with Ericsson, Proptivity has authored a 5G mobile first report aimed for those who want to learn more about how moving to a mobile-first approach can offer enhanced security – as well as a lower IT spend – without compromising employee productivity.
