The ratings are based on real-world measured mobile performance data (Ookla Cell Analytics™), not predicted coverage. They cover more than 300,000 buildings across London, Milan and Copenhagen, collected from all local national operators.
For each building, measured signal quality (RSRQ) is classed into three experience brackets: strong, moderate and poor, and combined into a measurement profile for the building.
The rating follows from that profile. A building is rated Good when strong readings are common and poor readings are rare, Poor when poor readings make up a large part of the profile, and Patchy in between. The number shown with the result is the share of readings classed as strong.
Where exact building data is not available, the tool uses the average of surrounding buildings and presents the result as an indicative estimate.
Buildings served by Proptivity are shown differently and do not follow the crowdsourced rating rules above. Their rating reflects verified system performance: coverage in these buildings is engineered, operated and measured by Proptivity. They appear with the Proptivity logomark and their own emerald rating, Excellent, which sits above the crowdsourced scale.
The ratings are indicative and describe the likely experience on outdoor-based networks. They say nothing about what a building could achieve with dedicated indoor mobile infrastructure.
